This is the second semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

This Summit English 9 course includes engaging and interactive instruction about reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language, with a focus on exploring a wide variety of genres and their elements. Students learn how to carefully read, interpret, and analyze literature and nonfiction works of cultural or historical significance appropriate to grade 9. Throughout the course, students practice narrative, informational, and argument writing. Students also develop and deliver presentations and participate in discussions with their peers.

Students explore the relationship between matter and energy by investigating force and motion, the structure of atoms, the structure and properties of matter, chemical reactions, and the interactions of energy and matter. Students develop skills in measuring, solving problems, using laboratory apparatuses, following safety procedures, and adhering to experimental procedures. Students focus on inquiry-based learning with laboratory investigations and experiences.

The course continues to teach accounting while placing emphasis on conceptual understanding and financial statement analysis to encourage students to apply accounting concepts to real-world situations and make informed business decisions. Topics include transactions and methods of accounting for both service and merchandising businesses. Accounting 2 prepares students for the NOCTI Accounting-Advanced credential.

This high school math course is a comprehensive look at the study of differential and integral calculus concepts including limits, derivative and integral computation, linearization, Riemann sums, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and differential equations. Discover the functions and purposes of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, and cardiovascular systems as well as diseases that affect those systems. Becoming familiar with the terminology of the human body is essential to those pursuing health sciences or wanting to gain a greater sense of how the human body works.

Building on the prior prerequisite course, students will examine the form and function of even more body systems. Students will learn about the structure, function, and interrelation between the lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and the endocrine systems. The reproductive system is also discussed along with hereditary traits and genetics. Finally, students will explore the importance of accurate patient documentation as well as technology used in the industry.
