Summer Courses

Whether your high school student wants to catch up or get ahead, K12 offers students a choice over the summer! The following summer terms are available through K12 International Academy—a private online school for grades K–12.  A variety of start date options are available.  You will be prompted to select your desired start date upon checkout. 

Full-Length Summer Terms are 90 days long. Semester-based courses are offered in math, science, social studies, English, and world languages in both comprehensive and Honors levels.

Condensed Summer Terms are 20 days long. Students can earn one full credit by taking both semesters of a course during consecutive companion terms.

K12 International Academy credits are transferrable to any K12 managed public school!

  1. US and Global Economics, Core Level (HST412S)

    This course is offered over a condensed 4 week term.

    This 12th Grade course in economic principles uses real-world simulations to teach the issues faced by producers, consumers, investors, and taxpayers in the U.S. and around the world. Topics include markets; supply and demand; theories of early economic thinkers; theories of value; money; the role of banks, investment houses, and the Federal Reserve; and other fundamental features of capitalism. A survey of current issues in American and global markets rounds out the course.

    In this high school course, students explore the relationship between matter and energy by investigating force and motion, the structure of atoms, the structure and properties of matter, chemical reactions, and the interactions of energy and matter. Students develop skills in measuring, solving problems, using laboratory apparatuses, following safety procedures, and adhering to experimental procedures. Students focus on inquiry-based learning, with both hands-on laboratory investigations and virtual laboratory experiences.

  12. Biology, Comprehensive Level, Part 2 (SCI203B)

    In this comprehensive high school science course, students investigate the chemistry of living things: the cell, genetics, evolution, the structure and function of living things, and ecology. The program consists of in-depth online lessons including extensive animations, an associated reference book, collaborative explorations, and hands-on laboratory experiments students can conduct at home. K12 provides all lab materials that cannot easily be found in the home. This is the second semester of SCI203.
