Summer Courses

Whether your high school student wants to catch up or get ahead, K12 offers students a choice over the summer! The following summer terms are available through K12 International Academy—a private online school for grades K–12.  A variety of start date options are available.  You will be prompted to select your desired start date upon checkout. 

Full-Length Summer Terms are 90 days long. Semester-based courses are offered in math, science, social studies, English, and world languages in both comprehensive and Honors levels.

Condensed Summer Terms are 20 days long. Students can earn one full credit by taking both semesters of a course during consecutive companion terms.

K12 International Academy credits are transferrable to any K12 managed public school!

  1. French II, Part 1 (WLG210A)

    Students continue their study of French by further expanding their knowledge of key vocabulary topics and grammar concepts. Students not only begin to comprehend listening and reading passages more fully, but they also start to express themselves more meaningfully in both speaking and writing. Each unit consists of a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, multimedia cultural presentations, and interactive activities and practices which reinforce vocabulary and grammar.

  2. Algebra II, Core Level, Summer Part 1 (MTH302AS)

    This is the first semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

    This high school math course builds upon algebraic concepts covered in Algebra I. Students solve open-ended problems and learn to think critically. Topics include conic sections; functions and their graphs; quadratic functions; inverse functions; and advanced polynomial functions. Students are introduced to rational, radical, exponential, and logarithmic functions; sequences and series; and data analysis.

    This is the second semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

    Students continue with their study of Latin through ancient, time-honored, classical language approaches which include repetition, parsing, written composition, and listening exercises. These techniques, combined with a modern multimedia approach to learning grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, prepare students for a deeper study of Latin. Each unit consists of a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, reading comprehension activities, writing activities, multimedia culture, history, and mythology presentations, and interactive activities and practices which reinforce vocabulary and grammar.

  9. Spanish III, Part 2 (WLG300B)

    Students further deepen their understanding of Spanish by focusing on the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. Each unit consists of a variety of activities which teach the students how to understand more difficult written and spoken passages, to communicate with others through informal speaking and writing interactions, and to express their thoughts and opinions in more formal spoken and written contexts. The course is conducted almost entirely in Spanish. This is the second semester of WLG300.

  10. Literary Analysis and Composition I, Core Level, Summer Part 1 (ENG102AS)

    This is the first semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

    In this English course, students work on their written and oral communication skills, while strengthening their ability to understand and analyze works of literature, both classic and modern. The course sharpens reading comprehension skills and engages readers in literary analysis as they consider important human issues and challenging ideas. Students also learn to express their ideas effectively.

  11. Geometry, Core Level, Summer Part 2 (MTH202BS)

    This is the second semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

    In this high school math course, students learn to recognize and work with core geometric concepts in various contexts. They develop sound ideas of inductive and deductive reasoning, logic, concepts, and techniques of Euclidean plane and solid geometry, as well as a solid, basic understanding of mathematical structure, method, and applications of Euclidean plane and solid geometry. Students use visualizations, spatial reasoning, and geometric modeling to solve problems. This is the second semester of MTH202.
