Continuing a survey of world history from prehistoric to modern times, K12 online lessons and assessmentscomplement the second volume of The Human Odyssey, a textbook series developed and published by K12. This course focuses on the story of the past, from the fifteenth century to 1914 and the beginning of World War I. The course is organized chronologically and, within broad eras, regionally. Students examine the impact of the settlement of the American West; investigate the social, political, and economic changes that resulted from industrialization; explore the changing role of the U.S. in international affairs from the late nineteenth century through the end of the Cold War; and trace major events and trends in the United States from the Cold War through the first decade of the twenty-first century.
