This course is designed as an exploration of career pathways in Sales and Promotion. In this course students explore basic concepts in the broad areas within the National Career Clusters® Framework, as well as career option. Students study the concepts of the sales profession, the role of sales in marketing, understanding customer needs, communication, the selling process, and more.

This course will introduce students to the Health care industry, its environment along with the day to day skill set, and knowledge required to fulfill a position as a Medical Administrative Assistant. Modules include Professional Behavior, Communication, Law and Ethics, Law and Medicine, Daily Operations, Telephone Techniques, Appointment Scheduling, Correspondence, Computers, HIPPA, Regulations, Records Management, Information Management, Basics of Coding, Health Insurance Basics, Professional Fees, Accounting and Bookkeeping, Banking and Financial Management, Practice Management, Marketing and Customer Service.

Mighty heroes. Angry gods and goddesses. Cunning animals. Since the first people gathered around fires, mythology and folklore have been used to make sense of humankind and our world. Beginning with an overview of mythology and different kinds of folklore, students will journey with ancient heroes as they slay dragons and outwit gods, follow fearless warrior women into battle, and watch as clever monsters outwit those stronger than themselves. They will explore the universality and social significance of myths and folklore and see how these are still used to shape society today.

The Summit English 9 Honors course includes engaging and interactive instruction about reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language, with a focus on exploring a wide variety of genres and their elements. Students learn how to carefully read, interpret, and analyze literature and nonfiction works of cultural or historical significance appropriate to grade 9. Throughout the course, students practice narrative, informational, and argument writing. Students also develop and deliver presentations, and participate in discussions with their peers. This course includes all the topics in ENG108 as well as several extension activities. Each semester also includes an independent honors project.

This course provides structured lessons on reading comprehension, critical reading and analysis, composition, vocabulary, grammar, usage, and mechanics. Through emphasis on spelling, students learn relationships between sounds and spellings in words and affixes. Lessons are designed to develop comprehension, hone critical reading skills, build vocabulary, and help students evaluate and apply the ideas they have learned from their reading. Students practice writing as they write a memoir, editorial, research paper, business letter, and more. Students learn about parts of speech, punctuation, and research skills. Students study literature in a variety of genres including fiction, poetry, nonfiction, drama, and novels. Students also learn to work with technology and multimedia through the short and extended projects.

In this course, students receive structured lessons on readiness skills through emphasis on phonics, language skills, literature, and handwriting to help develop comprehension, build vocabulary, and promote a lifelong interest in reading.

Students read selections from British and world literature in a loosely organized chronological framework. They analyze the themes, styles, and structures of these texts and make thematic connections among diverse authors, periods, and settings. Students complete guided and independent writing assignments that refine their analytical skills. They have opportunities for creative expression in projects of their choice. Students also practice test-taking skills for standardized assessments in critical reading and writing.

This is the first semester of a two part course, offered over a condensed 4 week term.

Building on the prior prerequisite course, students will examine the form and function of even more body systems. Students will learn about the structure, function, and interrelation between the lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and the endocrine systems. The reproductive system is also discussed along with hereditary traits and genetics. Finally, students will explore the importance of accurate patient documentation as well as technology used in the industry.

Increase your understanding about the form and function of the human body! Starting with the relationship between anatomy and physiology, you will then learn about cell structure and their processes. Discover the functions and purposes of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, and cardiovascular systems as well as diseases that affect those systems. Becoming familiar with the terminology of the human body is essential to those pursuing health sciences or wanting to gain a greater sense of how the human body works.

In K¹² High School British and World Literature, students read and analyze works of British and world literature that reflect the rich and diverse history of the Western world. As students progress through centuries of literature in a loose chronological arrangement, they will see how British and world literature has been shaped by concerns, values, and ideas that have intrigued, delighted, and challenged people throughout time. This is the second semester of ENG404.
